Upon wiping my dashboard with a dry cloth(never used any products to clean, or treat the dashboard area) and I do not park vechile in direct sunlight.... I noticed 4 to 5 cracks in the dashboard area of both drivers side and passengers side...most concerning... that 2 of the cracks are around the passanger air bag located on the passenger side dashboard...this is unacceptable as a consumer of GM and a Chevy Silverado who purchased a vechile thats priced above $45,000. I believe this should be taken very seriously considering the location of these cracks and should be a recall by GM considering the fact that many people are experiencing the same issues.....
While vehicle was in motion we heard a popping noise from front of cabin. Then saw two cracks in the dash. One at the passenger air bag and the other on driver side at the instrument cluster.
Dashboard is cracking all arround airbag, if airbag were to deploy it would spray plastic parts all over vehicle, it is a part defect and Chevrolet knows this, they will do nothing to address this, there are many people on facebook showing 1000S of pictures, please help, this vehicle is not that old and the cracks started to appear at just 37,000 miles, also if you decide to fix the problem and pay for it yourself, they will not guarantee the new factory dash will not do it again, this just proves that they know it is made defective, hopefully something will be done about this before someone gets sprayed with flying defective parts arround the airbag
I was driving & heard a very loud noise but didn't know what it was till I was cleaning/vacuuming my vehicle the next day. I was cleaning the vehicle & the dashboard was very dirty so I was lightly cleaning it with a rag & the rag got stuck so when I checked what it was I noticed a very big crack. It also cracked by the airbag & I honestly feel like that is a hazard. It bothers me to think I'm paying over $40K for a vehicle that I chose to defend my family & might malfunction if I'm ever in an accident.

Huge crack on the dash possibly affecting the deployment of the air bag in the event of a crash. Crack was there when I got in the truck in the morning.
Passenger side dashboard is cracked between the airbag cover and the front of the dashboard top panel. It turns out this is a problem others have noticed on these models as well. My concern is the proximity to the airbag. Other owners have posted photos of larger cracks and holes in the dashboard in this location. I don't want it to cause an issue with airbag functionality were there to be an airbag deployment event. I don't know how long this had been cracked but it was first noticed by my wife on 5/13/2017.
Dash cracked from corner of passenger air bag to corner of defrost vent. Concerned if air bag deploys dash fragments may cause bodily harm. Not sure if cracked formed during motion or sitting stationary.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the service air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front driver side impact sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000....updated 05/11/17

Air bag light is on. Chevrolet service originally suspected it was the air bag module and wanted to replace it charging $800. They would not guarantee that was the problem. Since we have replaced the air bag module took the vehicle in again to have it programmed and service stated that the new module would not accept programming and they are still not sure what the problem is. Light is still on, no airbags. The service department doesn't appear to have any idea what is wrong and just want the consumer to pay for parts and labor until they figure it out.
Dash began to crack around the passenger airbag. I am afraid that the dash pieces can become flying projectiles in the event of an accident where the passenger or side impact airbag deploys.
The dash has cracked where the passenger air bag cover. It appears that if the air bag were to deploy the dash could fracture further and cause bodily harm.
On 1/22/2016, I was involved in a front end collision while making a left turn onto a major street. The vehicle I collided with approximate speed was 35mph when the collision occurred!!! the smell of gun powder was through out my vehicle. Also the service air bag warning light was flashing on my dash board. None of the factory air bags deployed during the front end collision!!!
