I had a 1986 S10 truck that I bought with 14,000 miles and drove until 86,000 miles. I was 20 years old. I kept the S10 in such a condition that it lasted 4 hours on the Chevy lot after I traded on my new truck. No complaints about the S10. I bought a new 1994 loaded C1500. At about 70,000 miles the C1500 started using oil and fouling out three of the spark plugs. The only way to solve this problem was to replace the piston rings. Of course this was a very expensive proposition. Chevy stated it was normal to use oil between oil changes and did nothing for me. This truck I drove until 2001 and 79,000 miles after changing spark plugs monthly for last 4 months. The truck was traded and again because it was in excellent condition, it lasted only days on the lot even with the problem. I take extreme car of my vehicles cosmetically and mechanically. Making my vehicles “The most dependable and longest lasting full size truck on the roadâ€, as Chevy states is not a problem. The 1994 C1500 was traded for a new 2001 Silverado LT with everything but 4 wheel drive. At 29,000 miles and 5 years old the ABS Control Module (part #88982296) went out. The cost would have been $1200 for labor and the module but the Chevy garage fought for me and got it replaced for the $73.99 diagnostic fee. Now at 64,000 miles the module went out again taking the ABS pump with it. The cost this time is $1600. The same Chevy garage reduced the parts cost for me. I called Chevy (1-800-222-1020) and the problem was elevated to the district manager. He stated yesterday (10/23/2012) they are sorry, but they can do NOTHING for me. DO NOT BELIEVE CHEVY’S STATEMENT “The most dependable and longest lasting full size truck on the roadâ€. IT IS ONLY A SLOGEN. After 26 years of continuous ownership of a Chevy trucks and Classic Camaros I would never buy a Chevy truck again. I have a 2002 Honda Odyssey with 155,000 mile with no mechanical or other issues. I would not be scared to drive the Honda another 100,000. I can’t get a Chevy past 79,000 miles.
