I originally had the portion of the bed that lines up with the cab (inside) repainted. However, the roof, entire bed, back of the cab around the window, sides are now completely peeling to the metal over the entire truck. I currently have just over 50k miles on my 2013 and it has been well cared for.

Silverado 1500 RMT 5.3L

I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado RMT, color - White Diamond. My paint started peeling on the top of the roof so I called a nearby Chevy dealership to see what I could do, and they told me there was no recalls. My paint started peeling on the sides of my doors (driver & passenger). I have noticed other GM vehicles around my area with the same problem in the same spots. There are too many of these vehicles and new vehicles with the same problem. I have older vehicles than my truck and the paint has not peeled off. I have also called GM to complain and they told me there was no recall and nothing they could do.

The paint is defective and I would like for GM to put out a recall on all defective paint, NO matter the year. I have looked in the past for Class Action Law suits and didn't see on till this year (2022). I would like to know who to contact for this Class Action Law suit and how to add my year as well or what I need to do.

I've seen the recalls on GM paint for 2014+. Mine is 2013 and it is garage kept and shouldn’t have this issue by any means it needs to be fixed and without charge due to the fact that it's a newer truck that should go years without issues. Older trucks have less paint missing then this newer one.

It is irritating to look at your truck and see your paint peeling off like that, and every time I wash my truck and spray it with the water hose, it peels even more.

paint peeling

Not only did the paint peel off the roof, the door handles are way too weak. If someone is trying to get in the when it is locked it cannot handle man pulls at all. I have two doors that do not have handles on them - it ridiculous to have to ride around like that

Update from Mar 15, 2022: It started peeling at 30,000 miles not 200,300.

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.1L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Took my 2013 Chevy Silverado LTZ with pearl white paint which I bought brand new, to local Chevrolet dealer collision center to have them look at paint peeling from hood in mid February. They took photo's climbed all over the truck looking for other paint bubbles wrote up an estimate to repaint the hood for $1100.00 and sent me over to the service manager. He said he would call GM and see what they would do.

Well the service manager just blew smoke up my ass wouldn't return phone calls and when I went to see him in person he was in a meeting or off today. I contacted GM and they gave me a case number and the person handling my case would never get back with me or be there when I called. I finally went through customer service and found out that case had been moved to another person and he finally called and I went through the whole story again (this has been going on since February and its now September) he said he would contact the dealer and get back with me in 48 hours.

He did get back with me and the dealer gave him a Bullshit story how they offered to paint it but I refused they didn't tell him the 1100.00 part. So the claims agent cancelled the claim but did say I could try another dealer and open another claim if I wanted to. It definitely is a manufactures defect as the paint didn't stick to the primer. The fenders are also bubbling and you can take your finger and move the bubble around like a trapped air bubble. Very unhappy with GM.
