I fear I have been sucked into the same exploratory surgery/money pit vortex as other posts I've read concering the reduced engine power issues and the lack of Chevy know-how to diagnose the real issue and fix it. Bought the truck used still under powertrain warranty, and about 1yr into it started getting the reduced engine power problem. Took it in and they fiddle-farted around with some connector for two days, wound up soldering each pin (supposedly) to ensure solid connection. Yatta, yatta, seemed to solve the problem for a while. Fast forward several months and it happens again. Did not take it in, kept resetting with engine turn-off method and started utilizing the M drive mode to avoid V4 mode thinking it was related to the oil burning issues and the AFM. Finally wound up taking now-out-of-warranty truck to Chevy after another episode and they dropped the TSB 10-06-01-00G bomb on me (new pistons, valve cover, oil deflector, etc...) at $3800 cost. Said hell no and took the truck back not knowing what to do. Wound up turning AFM (DOD?) off to keep V8 mode on thinking I could slowly drive it clean (oil gunk) but no dice - happened again and again. So I opened a case up with GM central, they worked with the dealer as a relationship deal and wound up covering a big chunk of the cost. I thankfully jumped on that and JUST GOT THE F* truck back yesterday evening after a week in the shop and it's right back in today after maybe 30 miles of driving - SAME PROBLEM, NOT FIXED. This has been unresolved now since the first bring-in and 2+ grand later I'm still having the problem. I am so disgusted and outdone by Chevy incompetence it is beyond rationale that this kind of sht continues to go on w/o them taking TRUE responsibility by admitting they have a systemic problem and recalling at their expense. This and the little things that are falling apart in the cab just expose their cheap make-up and poor design; sorry, NOT the most dependable trucks on the road.
