Ok.... Constant vibrations. The dealer said the big tires take 5k - 10k miles of driving, to remove the flat spots from sitting on the lot. LIE. I think there is something in the drivetrain and rear end. But, everytime I balanace the tires, they are off. Allegedly, the big tires are shifting on the rims, and therefore the balance is always off. GM has an issue here.
The truck is always bogged down when stepping on the gas. Dealer says that is normal for 3:08 gears. It is disgusting driving this thing around the city and towns. Why Chevy offered this truck with 3:08's, is mindboggling. If I wanted a manual shift vehicle, I would have bought one.
Rattles over 60mph in the windshield pillars. GM posted a bulleton that the rubber gasket needs to be taped. It was very loud and embarrassing, but they did fix that.
The 3:08's were suppossed to be a gas mileage miracle. On the higheway, the rpms do lower more than the 3:73 gears, but even on relatively flat ground, doing 72mph, we get about 15.8mpg. The real issue is, when the highway has any inclines at all. The motor boggs down and sucks enormous fuel, but the truck barely moves the speed any higher, negating the benefit of lower gears. Bottom line, y truck averages 13.8-14.1 mpg city/highway. My 2010 silverado, exact same vehicle, with 3:73 gears, had enormous power, shifted properly, never bogged down the motor, and averaged 15.8-16.4 mpg. BUT, never a headache. EVER!
Lastly, there are clunking noises in the rear axle or tranny, when Im on the gas at all, and let off on it. Passangers have asked me about it. My 2010, never made a peep. Dealer says its all NORMAL, and that until something goes out on it, they cant tell these things. Every owner I see at H.Depot or at parking lots, with these 2012's, are telling me similar horror stories. Ive had 4 new Silverados, and loved them all. This 2012, I would NOT recommend to anyone. So disappointed.
