GM said it was fair wear and tear for driving in Wisconsin conditions. My Ford with aluminum rims was 16 years old and no problem whatsoever. Bought the Silverado new in 11 and 4 years later all four rims were leaking air. Didn't realize that was the problem til Dec of 15 when I put new rubber on it. Tire installer told me before they put tires on that there was a problem with these rims, first words to me before they even looked at the car.
GM dealer where I bought car told me if I was paying or GM was paying they would help me but they would do nothing as they were not in business to lose money. GM exec asst Wendy told me GM was in the business to make money not give it to me. She was also the one who rescinded an offer by a lower level person to extend me good will on this problem.
I was an engineer and have some concept of corrosion and the causes. This should not be happening and I am apprehensive of catastrophic failure of the wheels at highway speeds. Those wheels couldn't have cost GM more then 50 to $100 each yet they want $2000 plus to replace them and no price breaks whatsoever. I will never own another GM product as long as I live nor will my family. A corporation with no ethics nor sense of what is right or wrong is not something I ever want to deal with again. Too late to give the truck back but perhaps someone else may be spared the aggravation of trying to get them to do the right thing.
