I had the same clunking noise in my 2007 GMC and the dealer would keep on removing the drive shaft and putting the high temperature grease on the yoke and the noise would go away for about 6 mo. until the warranty went out. Then they wanted to charge $80.
Now I purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Silv 1500 4 door used but preown certified bumper to bumper. 23000 miles. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong that this 2011 had a different set up then my 2007 GMC.
On the way home it still made the noise when starting and stopping. I have had my Pastor riding with me and he also told me that he is hearing the same noise as my 2007 GMC had.
