When I bought this truck it had approx. 19,500 miles on it. It was in really great condition and I got a great deal on it. 6-7000 miles later I started noticing excessive loss of oil. I was having to add 3-4 quarts every 1000-1500 miles. (Complaint already filed). When the truck had approx. 26,870 miles on it I was out running errands when the engine felt like it dropped completely out of the truck. I lost power. The engine felt like it was shaking violently, which in turn started shaking the truck. It shifted very poorly, idled extremely rough, and ran very poorly. I contacted my local Chevy dealership (Spitzer) and told them I was coming in and the reasons why. Spitzer Chevrolet is a good dealership, and their service department is very good as well. Very friendly, helpful staff. The service manager (Clark) set me up with a loaner truck and got mine in for diagnosis immediately. I was notified, I believe the next day, what the issue was. Clark said the bad news was the engine lifters and Active Fuel Management lifters failed and would need replaced. He said it would probably be $2500 to have the problem fixed. He then told me the good news was my truck was still covered under factory warranty and it wouldn't cost me a penny. I was very happy to hear that. Approx 3 days later I had my truck back and it was running pretty good. However, I still had the problem with the excessive oil loss (Complaint on file). What my brain has a hard time wrapping itself around is how an engine with only 26,882 miles on it could have so many problems already! I traded a 2007 GMC Sierra with 117,000+/- miles on it for this Chevy. That GMC never had one engine problem. Not One!
