2009 Chevrolet Silverado
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Silverado has no defect trends, which is a very good sign now that it's more than a few years old.
A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.
The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

I bought this truck new in 2009, so that I could have a reliable truck for a long time. Wow what a mistake! Rear main seal failed before 50,000 miles. It's been burning oil since before 50,000 miles as well. New spark plugs, coil packs, etc. Two quarts between oil changes. This is ridiculous. My 2005 with 125,000 doesn't leak or burn a drop and still has the original plugs, wires, etc.
Anyhow, now the engine sounded like it's going to explode so I had it towed to a repair shop. $1,909 dollars later I have new lifters on the passenger side and they replaced the valve cover on the driver side to supposedly correct the oil consumption issue. I picked it up from the mechanic and didn't make it 5 miles when the check engine light started to flash and the traction control light came on.
A simple Google search on this issue makes me afraid to drive it at all. Sounds like a new engine is imminent. 80,000 miles out of a regularly serviced and pamper truck is pathetic. Last GM for me. Obama should have let them go bankrupt. I guess I'll move on to an F150 next.
