CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Silverado has no defect trends, which is a very good sign now that it's more than a few years old.
A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.
The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

Was going up a hill that was rutted out pretty bad, I went into the rut very hard, backed down the hill in the rut tried to go again but just starting spinning. I can't remember if I shut the engine off or it died on me but after I fed my cows I got into the truck to leave but it would not crank, we tried boosting it no luck, next day I got a tow truck to come out and pick it up so we checked it again had to use a hot wire to the ignition side of the starter, it started and was running when the tow truck driver decided to pull the fuse box under the hood apart, it died and we could still get it to crank with a hot wire to the starter but will not hit a lick! Towed it to a auto shop on Thursday it's still there with not luck finding the problem. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Update from Sep 24, 2016: starter won't crank from the key switch, only will crank using a jumper wire on the starter, fuse and everything is ok
