bought it in 2008 my tire light on dash was on when i bought it told them about it 3 times they had never fix it yet they told me its the key pad i try 2 key pads never work . now power lock went out in Aug. 2012 they told me my warranty was out. it will cost me money to fix it. I know several people told me they go out a lot. Chevy should fix it for no cost. we have to roll the window down then pull the lock up to get in on the passenger side. they should have a recall on the locks and fix them since so many are going bad. i only have 27000miles on my truck but the warranty was up in 3 yrs. this is a crock of sh*t, when the manufactured produced a bad product. further more, I had to get my whole dash replaced at the first of 2012 it cracked, they did replace that, but they also changed my oil and rotated my tires, now my tire lite won't go off at all, this again their blaming my key pad. what is a person suppose to do when your sold a lemon.,....put a sign on your truck and park it in front of the dealer?

very unsafe for all kids or adults. There should be a factory recall on any safety related problem, we've been loyal bow-tie drivers forever, but we believed in GM's product. But its time to change. HELLO (dare I say it) FORD!!!!!!

Everyone I know who has a 2008 silverado, or 2008 GMC pickup has problems with the door locks. General Motors should fix the problem for free.

My truck is 3 years and 4 months but only 34,000 miles. So the dealer will not cover the repairs under warranty. They charged me $46.00 to tell me it would be $1,000.00 to replace all 4 lock solenoid. Looking hard at a Ford F250!

Surprise.....The driver side door lock went out, same thing going on as with the passenger door lock, Gm says to get in contact with dealer....just did that, two weeks before they can look at it, not even surprised at this as the truck is out of warranty....lol.....never had a problem getting in the next day when it was under warranty...am sure they are going to tell me the same thing as with the passenger door lock....some one really needs to look at this as it seems to be a design issue ...

Having been a loyal GM buyer since the 1970's, I think it is time to look at another brand, as I haven't been given anything but the runaround on this issue.....they seem to know about it but don't care enough to do anything about it

The passenger door lock went out on the truck when I brought my wife out from the hospital where we had gone for her broken foot, the passenger door failed to open with the keyfob, I had to open the driver door and stretch across and unlock the passenger door manually , and this was while my wife was in a wheelchair and it was pouring the snow, then GM and the dealer said since the truck was out of warranty that I would have to pay the full cost of having it repaired, this should be a safety issue that GM needs to address, as the truck has the security system on it and also the doors are suppose to lock when the transmission is engaged, we also have small children and the passenger door can be opened when the truck is being driven, then there is the problem of walking away from the truck and the door is left unlocked even with the security system is activated

This is twice since I bought the vehicle that the door lock(s) have malfunctioned. Had the locks 3 out of 4 replaced in May/June 2009 covered under purchase agreement. Now same drivers' side door lock is malfunctioning again. Will not open using key fob or interior door switch. Must manually pull up door lock. Very inconvenient during monsoon season funbling w/keys. Manufacturer should guarantee it's parts or see about a recall.

Silverado LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

My truck was barely 1000 miles out of warranty when the locks began acting up, but by the time I realized what was wrong and how severe it was, it was roughly 8-9K miles out. The dealer where i purchased it said that it was a "common problem that they've been seeing a lot" and only offered a little leniency on the overall cost to replace all the locks, approximately $600-$1000 if charged full price. Further research revealed dozens and dozens of similar complaints at MULTIPLE websites and from all regions of the country. Sadly, Chevy Cust. Assistance has given me the "need a diagnosis" runaround (after I had called back repeatedly and finally had to go through a rep other than the one that originally contacted me) and been of no help at all. One would think that a problem this widespread that creates such a SEVERE SAFETY and SECURITY HAZARD (i.e., doors able to be opened while driving, car theft/carjacking) would spur Chevy to be more PROACTIVE in fixing the issue instead of turning a deaf ear to their loyal customers!!! Starting to think that perhaps i should've looked at a (and I hate to think I'm even thinking this) Ford or Dodge instead.....

Like the other comments, I called the dealership and they said approximately $150-$200 per door to replace the lock/actuator. I also believe that this is a safety concern and should be addressed by Chevrolet / GM (Government Motors)!!!

problem #2

Nov 152010

Silverado LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,000 miles

Power door locks failing at 2 years old/50,000 miles. Call Chevy dealer said it would cost about $150. per door. Told them I would replace if they would furnish new locks. Said I would have to bring it in to diagnose the problem. I searched the internet for the same problem and found many of the same complaints. Each one, the door locks had to be replaced. Locking mechanism is all one piece and is very easy to replace. I called Chevy public relations to complain about this problem and was told the same thing...it would have to be brought in to diagnose the problem. Because of the mileage being greater than 36,000 miles, it is not under warranty. I consider this to be a safety issue since the door locks do not lock the doors when in drive. Passengers can open the door while vehicle is in motion. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a part defect and should be listed as a safety recall. I would appreciate it if you can look into this matter immediately. Thank you!

Silverado LS 4.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

i bought my truck new in october of 08', expecting it to be a good truck until....the back window wouldnt go up when it started raining, this is the second week i had my new truck. i took it back and they fixed the window, which is going out again..then about a year later the electric door locks go out on both doors the remote wont unlock the doors, and neither will the inside switch, to unlock the passenger door you have to stretch across the seat and pull up the lock. this is a pain in the ass !! and when i took it back to the dealer to have it fixed they wanted to charge $450 per door !! which would have totaled out to around $1000 after taxes.
