The gas gauge quit working (not sure of the mileage (put in 70000) and i have been driving it for about 4 years now by using the trip counter and filling up every 400 miles. when the battery voltage indicator also quit working (about 6 months ago) i finally got it fixed (replace dashboard electronics) and that fixed both problems costing about $600. I now have 100000 miles on the truck at the time of the repair.

First, the temp gage would sit where ever it felt like. Of course, I checked all that I could--fluids and fans were all properly filled or operational. Then a month later the fuel gage joined in; sit on half a tank as I left the gas station having put 18 gals in. Since, it does whatever the hell it feels like. Finally, last week the speedometer began sticking on arbitrary spots. Starting from a dead stop reading anywhere from 20-65 and I'm left doing math to avoid a ticket. WTF??!!!

Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

Oil pressure gauge quit working. I thought I had lost oil pressure in the truck all together, but after shutting the motor off I realized the gauge was sticking. GM has issued a recall for affected vehicles with under 70,000 miles on them. I'm not sure how GM came to the conclusion that gauges should only work for 70,000 miles, but that is neither here nor there. I'm well into the double digits on problems associated with this vehicle!

Silverado 4.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

After alot of highway miles, the speedometer started going wild, sticking and reporting inaccurate readings. We called the dealer to find this was a known problem. THe only problem with that was, we were under the 7 years, but not under the specified mileage limit. How come a known defective part that came with the new purchase (back in 04) is not covered just because I USE the product (hench high mileage). The truck is fine and I have kept very good maintenance. But if everyone would lodge a complaint with the

National highway traffic and safety administration- Maybe GM would see that this should be a recall!!! Go to www.nhtsa.gov and file your complaint today.

Silverado 4.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY WHEN IT'S NOT. I HAVE HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THEN ABOUT A WEEK AGO THE GAGE STARTED ACTING UP. ALL THE OTHER GAGES ARE FINE.

ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM?
