This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Our Chevy Silverado truck, 2000 make of year, has ignition issues. It is hard to get the key to turn in the ignition, requiring us to either jiggle the ignition plate or turn the key to the other side and insert it that way. We have noticed that we can take the key out of the ignition and the engine will continue to run. We have asked our GM dealership in the past about repairs, and were told it would cost us $2000 to fix. We weren't too concerned about it until we saw the controversy with the Chevy cobalt (a vehicle we also own), and now wonder if the Chevy Silverado can also be added to this list of recalls or repairs. Our cobalt does have the same issue as the others, and we have asked our daughter, who drives it in New Hampshire, to take it in to get the modification.
Engine check light came on repeatedly, took to dealer but they could not find a problem. Soon after the vehicle stalled, and was brought back to the dealer. The fuel sending unit and the ignition coil wire were replaced to repair the vehicle.
