ABS module failed at just over 43,000 miles. Dealer said this was common problem with '1999 Silverado. Contacted Chevrolet to question why recall has not been placed or if they are providing assistance with repair cost due to the failure on a newer, low mileage vehicle. Told by Chevrolet there was nothing they could do. Researched problem on internet and discovered this is a widespread problem for this truck. I feel as if Chevrolet should live up to the high standards they claim and take care of a problem of this nature.

ABS pump continously runs. Pulled ABS fuse so battery would not run down. Took truck to local shop where they ran diagnostics. Informed me that both the ABS module and pump needed to be replaced. This is a very expensive repair for a vehicle that has less than 50,000 miles on it.
These ABS brakes just don't work properly. I am actually scared to drive my truck. I paid over 52000 Canadian dollars for this peice of junk. How many people will have to die before Chevy bothers with us"? I am assuming the dead ones haven't complained on here. Will someone please let me know when this is going to be fixed?"
My ABS light came on when I started my car and I heard a winding out noise coming from beneath the area where the front passenger seat is. I immediatly called my mechanic and I brought my truck in to him. I have yet to have the problem diaganosed as of yet because of my time schedule. I am concerned because my father-in-laws truck (same make and model) had the same problem, the same week as ours.
