The contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado, while using the windshield wipers they had suddenly stopped and a buzzing sound was coming from the windshield wipers. After the buzzing sound had stopped the windshield wipers had began to work properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the probe central module needed to be replaced. The current mileage is 225,000 failure mileage was 89000. Contact states while driving vehicle the windshield wipers will stop working for approximately 5 minutes, then start back working. The vehicle has not been taken to a service dealer. This has happened about 5 or 6 times.
Front windshield wipers would intermittently operate while the switch was in the off position or not operate at all. Dealer was notified and informed the consumer that this problem was not covered under a recall.
When driving the vehicle in the rain the windshield wipers failed. As a result the drive had to pull off the road. The owner has contacted the dealership but the problem still occurs.

Windshield wipers stopped operating during inclement weather. Dealer informed the consumer that repairs would be made at consumer's expense. Consumer was not willing to pay for a manufacturing defect. Dealer did not inform the consumer of what had to be replaced or repaired.
At any speed windshield wipers operate poorly. At times consumer had to get out of vehicle, go under the hood, and tap on the actual wiper motor. Manufacturer and dealer were aware of the problem. 1996 and 1997 vehicles of the same make/model were on recall.
Transmission went out it started that when you put it reverse it didn't want to go then put into drive then reverse it worked. Then while driving we pulled into parking spot and tried to reverse it was totally gone. Windshied wipers stop working on and off. You can hear the motor they won't move and at most times it effects the windshield washer fluid so it doesn't work.
The consumer's vehicle experienced the same problem with the windshield wiper as stated in recall 98 V 150 001, but the vehicle was not included in the recall due to vehicle identification number.
