This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Problems with vehicle's windshield wipers. The consumer stated the manufacturer would not honor the recall, because the windshield failed before the recall was issued. The consumer replaced the windshield wiper motor, however the replacement motor failed and the manufacturer stated they would only reimburse the consumer for the factory windshield wiper motor.
While driving in the rain windshield wipers started working intermittently. Would sometimes stop altogether. This problem caused poor visibility for the driver.
Consumer states that they are experencing the same problem stated in recall # 98.V.150.000 which references windshield wipers, but vehicle is not included in recall due to VIN. Nlm
The wipers have always malfunctioned, consumer states there is a recall on C series trucks for the exact same reason, called Chevrolet but they said the recall was only for the C series. Consumer wants to know why the K series are not in the recall.
The windshield wipers sometimes do not start when switched on. There are other times I am driving with the wipers on and they stop working for awhile then start and run for some time then stop. I have found that when the wipers are not running after being turned on that if I wiggle the connector at the wiper motor then they will start working, but while driving they may again shut off. I contacted Chevrolet and was told that my VIN number was not included under the recall for this problem. I would like for you to increase the recalled vehicles with this problem. My truck did not develope this problem until about 1.5 yrs ago and I didn't realize the systemic problem related to the wipers and thought it was just "this truck" until I saw the recall with this problem and found mine is not included. Thanks, wayne.
Windshield wipers work only occasionally. I've had this problem for over a year. Windshield wipers seem not to work at the most inopertune time, like when it rains really hard. I've been using products like rainex to protect myself from windshield wiper related accidents.
Two years ago windshield wipers would suddenly start working and would not stop, regardless of the position the switch was in. Consumer had wiper motor replaced which corrected the problem. However, problem has reoccurred, and dealership has not examined vehicle. Consumer stated that the wiper arm assembly was adjusted and now the wipers work properly.
Wipers stop at will while driving at any speed since ownership. Harbor Chevrolet will not fix since no recall on my VIN #. my friends GMC Yukon started doing same, VIN# [xxx]. she was a recall. I have almost been in serious accident while on vacation in colo. Driving on I70 in a hard downpour when the wipers stopped. Any dealer should document complaints and repair at no cost.
