The spare tire (donut) on my 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, has a 3/8 inch gouge in the sidewall, caused by the way the tire is secured to the undercarriage of the truck. When the cable that secures the tire to the frame is tightened so the tire is secure, it drives the tire into the frame where it wears a groove into the sidewall. I am reluctant to use the tire, as it looks like it would not perform as required.
