ABS system failed due to a computer glitch, dealer is awaiting a new computer program, this glitch leaves vehicle with no ABS brake causing the consumer loss of control of vehicle while braking. Nlm
Idling in neutral, brake pedal will go to the floor. While driving, brake pedal will go floor when braking from freeway speeds, going over bumps and potholes and quick stops. All problems seem to be related to bumps and potholes at time of occurrence. Rear brakes also lock up under moderate braking force. Dealer was notified. Told they were unaware of any problems related to the S10 brakes and could not duplicate problem. NHTSA customer complaint data base shows others with similar problems.
Previously owned 1996 S10 which was recalled for this very same problem. No safety defect listed within summary. The ABS brakes failed suddenly while the consumer was driving on gravel driveway and caused accident resulting in extensive damage to the vehicle.
Gas pedal stuck and brakes were hard to press when trying to slow down. This caused consumer to hit a tree. Also, airbags did not deploy, and drivers side seat belt did not properly restrain. It did not lock into position, causing consumer to sustain a head injury. Dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem.
When running over bumpy or rough surfances brake pedal goes soft and then returns to normal after a few pumps. Will be taking to the dealer - they report no recall on this model.
While driving on highway at 75mph anti-lock brake light came on and stayed on until vehicle was turned off. Contacted dealer, and they have contacted the manufacturer. Part has been replaced once, but still continues.
While driving on highway and upon applying the brakes rear of vehicle swayed to one side, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has inspected vehicle.
ABS brake light illuminated, indicating a malfunction within the system. When applying the brakes, pedal wentto the floor, causing extended stopping distance. Emergency brake light also flickers.
Whenever runnig over manhole/bump or rough surface, brake pedal goes to the floor, and a snipping / grinding sound. Is heard. Vehicle been in dealer shop, and nothing could be found.
