I am replacing a third fuel pump within 6 months. Average cost of fuel pump is $390.00. Let alone the towing and the down time replacing the pumps. I get an average of 11,000 km on the pumps. The sending unit burns up quickly for the pump and then the fuel pump quits shortly afterwards. I have mechanical pumps in my older Chev's and never had any issues.
