Spare tire stored underneath vechile fell to ground and logged under vehicle. Only a bad bounce at 10 mph but a major problem at 70 mph. Repair service states they have seem this before--will replacement fail when traveling at a higher speed" is it safe to drive this vehicle"
Cable holding spare tire under frame has failed twice. Once on 1-19-2000 and again on 07092000. Cable breaks and tire falls to ground into traffic. Both failures at low speed with out damage. Dealer repaired both times at their cost. Concern should it fail at highway speed in heavy traffic.
While traveling on the highway at approximately 60-65 mph spare tire from underneath the vehicle carrier broke and fell onto the highway, almost causing a vehicle collision. Dealer was notified.
