The contact owns a 1995 Chevrolet S10. While driving 55 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers completely stopped. There was a recall on the windshield wipers; however, the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 98V150001 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer). The contact has to purchase the windshield wipers and pulse module and repaired it himself. The failure mileage was 160,000. Updated 10/28/08 updated 10/29/08.
The windshield wipers would intermittently become inoperable, obstructing the driver's view. The dealer indicated there was no recall on this vehicle. Recall#98V150001
The windshield wipers stopped operating which caused poor visibility while driving during inclement weather. The manufacturer stated the vehicle was within the remedy scope for recall# 98V150001 but was out of time to receive the repairs. The wipers were intermittent.
The consumers vehicle experienced symptoms of recall #98V150000 which was related to the windshield wipers. The dealer refused to repair the vehicle under recall because the vehicle VIN was not included.
Consumer stated that they have the same problem as recall#98V150001 windshield wiper. Dealer will not repair because VIN# was not included. The wipers were intermittent. The cruise had gone out when the wiper/washer was erratic. The problem has not been repaired due to the cost. The consumer used rain X to help the wipers.
I went to your web site to check out all recalls on my 1995 chev. S10, I been having problems with my windshield wiper/washer for about a couple of years and never recieved a recall on this problem so I contacted Chevrolet about this problem and they refuse to fix this ploblem on my 95 S10.
Under rainy conditions, consumer states the windshield wipers will suddenly stop. They may come back on or may not. Consumer feels unsafe driving under these conditions.
