Intermittently windshield wipers became inoperable, obstructing the driver's view. A recall was issued on similar makes and models of 1995. However, this vehicle was not included due to VIN.
While driving windshield wiper failed when in use. Took vehicle to dealership. Mechanic implied a recall 98V150001 on make/model, and year was issued, but this vehicle was not included due to VIN. The first failure occurred six months after purchase and has been failing for 8 years. Wipers have been replaced numerous times and the consumer has been informed there was no failure. Consumer would like his vehicle added to the recall.
Windshield wipers fail intermittently as described in recall number 98V15001. Dealer claims my vehicle is not covered due to VIN number. Dealer recommends replacing same defective component as listed in recall fix (wiper pulse module).

I cannot understand why GM does not want to assume responsibility for this obviously defective and possibly fatal defect of the windshield wiper motor solder joint near the wiring harness connector that has cracked causing my wipers to work intermittently. This very serious problem has caused me to have reduced visibility on the highway at a rate of speed of 65 mph. I was in a horrible rain storm that came on all of the sudden and my wipers quit in mid stream!!!! I almost crashed into a semi-truck in order to avoid colliding with the cement barrier. Not only was I in the truck but so was my 3 yr old child! I want this problem with all of the defective wiper motors fixed immediately! there are hundreds of lives at stake here. I want to know if GM would rather assume responsibility for the deaths of people that may be affected by their obvious defect, because our VIN #'s aren't part of the "campaign" 98V150001. I think that it is horrifying to know that such a mutibillion dollar company doesnt care that because our trucks were manufactured a month prior to the recall specifications on maufactur date, that we shouldn't qualify? I want to know that I matter. I along with so may others have done our part and could have no way shape or form prevented this malfunction from occurring. I honored my commitment to GM by paying the purchase price. GM do your part and honor your guarentee of excellence, by keeping us safe from harm or death! GM needs to step up to the plate before I and hundreds of others step up to court. It would be much more cost efficient for GM to assume responsibility now!!! I truely don't see a need to reinvestigate the matter. I believe it is crystal clear to all that will read my and all the other complaints, not including the others that were turned away by GM customer service because the warranty was up! that shouldn't matter there wasn't any preventable thing we as S10 owners could have done!
98 V 150 000/windshield wiper wiring: Dealer: General motor; saint albans, wv; phone# 304/755-7707 unable to honor recall, no parts were available. Feel free to provide any further information.
Windshield wipers work intermittently. Sometimes they will stop functioning during performance, and sometimes they will not start at all. Dealer says it's the wiper motor circuit board.
This is total failure of the windshield wiper/washer system and is an intermittent condition lasting from a few minutes to a few hours. It is a safety condition exactly as described in previous recalls. The dealer would not correct it because my VIN was not listed in the recall lists. This is a classic example of visual systems failure described in NHTSA campaign id numbers 98V150000 and 98V150001. This has occurred a minimum of 16 times and has been reported to you (NHTSA) numerous times in the past, with no positive results. Your letter postmarked June 22, 2000 stated that a representative from networking and engineering technologies Inc would contact me within the next two weeks. Over a month has passed and I have not been contacted.
