The Chevy saga continues. I am going to add a few other things in here, because I can't sit here all day (unfortunately)
I was minding my own business parked in the driveway with my car on (talking on the phone!) when all of a sudden I see "smoke". I turned the car off, and stepped out, into a HUGE puddle.
I opened the hood, looked around and it looked like a hose leading into the radiator was cracked (small short crimped hose). I had lost all my coolant, and was unable to drive the car.
We replaced the hose very quickly and added coolant. Then we did a total coolant change and things have been fine... for about a week or 2.
3 days ago I noticed my car was driving funny, thinking the worst I went to a transmission specialist. They think I now have a leak in one of my lines, the transmission fluid was completely dry.
I really, really regret buying this car. I purchased new. Pretty much from 500 miles nothing but problems- my dash had to be replaced twice, water pump replaced, AC worked on 3 times, radio problem (water), all the buttons- even the ones I have never used- peeling, some fallen out!! My lights broke, changed them multiple times and basically had to search for 3 days to find the issue, the carpet is terrible, glove compartment broke, fuel leak..... I told the people at Chevy that I really, really wish I spent the extra 10k on a better car. And they had no help or apologies, of course if I wanted to come in for $100 they could look at my car!
Outside the hood is rusting! It's an 8 year old car.. I have friends with 20 year old cars and no rust.
The problem in the long run? If you don't have a friend or family member who can help you work on all those issues you are adding in a cost of $300-$600 PER ISSUE. My AC work alone was $800. It makes more sense to buy a car that will last and has a 100k mile warranty, or if you don't drive a lot look into leasing.
