Intake gasket is leaking engine coolant on top of motor. Will cost me $800 to get fixed. This has been happening with many 2001 and 2005 Monte Carlos. Just don't overheat it or the coolant will mix with the oil and then the damage is done.......no. warranty! no nothing! Out of pocket cash when I get it from working two jobs......GM sucks. No recalls on this either!!
Update from Jun 11, 2012: Yes,this is an on going issue with all 3.8 engines and several others 3.0's??? Mine has 87,000 miles and was told by a trained mechanic it needs repaired asap and no money to do it because of the high cost of labor....5-6 hours , just the gasket, it is $89 it self not to mention labor, oil, antifreeze and hoping nothing else wrong with the motor. You would think GM would have a recall on this engine.Nope not them......
Update from Apr 6, 2017: Recently had intake gasket replace which fixed the problem...GM should of had a recall on this issue nope not them!!
