DROVE HOME, TURNED CAR OFF, SAW THAT "SECURITY" CAME UP IN THE INFORMATION WINDOW AND I KNEW IT WOULDN'T START THE NEXT MORNING AND SURE ENOUGH, IT DIDN'T. AS FAR AS I KNOW, I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE SECURITY FEATURE ON MY CAR. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE MECHANIC USES THE KEY AND KEEPS WORKING THE DOOR LOCKS AND AFTER A TIME, IT SEEMS TO WORK. HE HASN'T HAD ANY SOLUTIONS AS TO WHAT TO DO TO FIX PROBLEM.
After driving and I shut my car off...it will not start. Lights, radio, etc. come on but the car won't even crank when the key is turned. I have to wait for a bit until the car cools down. My security light does not flash. I have had it in the shop a couple times. The first time they replaced my starter, still have the problem. The second they couldn't figure it out. I am so very frustrated with this whole problem.
Back in june of 2009 my car developed starting problems. First it was intermittent and would eventually start. I replaced all the relays, the ignition switch and starter and was fixed for about a month then it started doing it again. I replaced the relays once more thinking one had burnt out and no help. Now its done it again and nothing I do or change makes it start without really tearing into the wiring. Does anyone have a solution to this?
The car would randomly not start. No clicking, nothing. The dash lights would all come on, but it would not start. After trying numerous times (waiting in between times) it would finally start. After trying for 45 minutes once it started immediately for the mechanic.
The mechanic replaced half the ignition system. The next day the car did the same thing. I took it back and he put the first part back in and replaced the other one. I had no problems for 1 1/2 months then it was not starting again. I took it back to the mechanic along with 2 pages of emails that people posted on this site.
When I picked up the car later that day they told me there was a PURPLE wire that was loose. I think the whole problem was loose wires to begin with.....!
Two weeks after purchasing the car, ignition switch went out. Key would not turn at all. Bought a new ignition switch. One month later, car wouldn't start ( security light on). Thinking I could solve this matter, I purchased a new battery, alternator, and starter. Not the problem. Sent the car to the dealer for a diagnostic. They concluded that it could be the passlock wire behind the ignition switch so they rewired that but assured me that was only a guess due to the diagnostic going erratic. Two weeks later, wouldn't start. I have been messing with a batch of wires located next to the battery. The car will start right up!!!!
I know for sure that this is the issue with my car and reading all of your reports it seems as though that could be an option you may want to review. Please try this. I even reached down a little further where the wires lead to and gave those wires a little wiggle. Car started right up, and probably will for the next 20-30 times I start it and am sure they will need a little wiggle then.
After putting all of this money into this car the fact that it affected my job greatly (which I have no longer due to not having a reliable enough car), maybe a petition can be started and we could get a recall on this issue! This has been going on with my car for 6 or more months now!!!!

After vthe car sits overnight or all day the battery is almost completely discharged. After paying the dealer $305.00 I am told the problem is in either the radio, amplifier or the wiring for the radio and amp. The dealer took out the fuse for the radio and said this would work until I could bring it back to be further looked into. The battery still drains. Anybody have any ideas?
I have the same problem. Do both of you have aftermarket amps and speakers? I did. I have to drive my car around late at night so it will start in the morning. The charge usually lasts about 10-12 hours.
if i let my car sit for along period of time when i try to crank it up nothing happens at first they told me it was my cd player because it was hooked up incorrectly got that fixed then one week later took the same thing happened so i took it back to the shop and my mechanic took alook at it and told me that its a mechanical problem but he's not that good with electrical work so i have to take my car to this man who can find out whats wrong this is a big pain in the rear
My 2001 Monte Carlo's wheel speed sensors have been replaced twice without fixing the traction control and ABS lights and problems. Also the car sometimes won't start, but the speed gague and other gague needles, radio, etc. begin twitching repeatedly whether you remove the key or not. If the battery is disconnected and reconnected, the car seems to reset itself for a day or so, then it happens all over again. Any ideas?? This is getting to be much too expensive for us to repair over and over with no results!
