First the water pump failed. The dealer mechanic did not replace the antifreeze and as it turns out, didn't know how to properly bleed the cooling system. Now (less than 3000 mi. later) the left side head gasket (according to the dealership) has blown out. There are numerous class action suits against GM regarding DexCool. I have found out that GM only produced this version of the 3.4 for 2 years. I would love to hear from anyone that has had the same thing happen to their Monte. I know from past experience that GM has had issues with durability issues concerning engine assembly plants (a major one was the 1978 Buick 3.8 V6 engine). Chevrolet opened a case for me and had escalated it to the next level. Then mysteriously, it was closed out 24 hours later and they won't give me any insight as to who closed it or allow me to contact them.
