This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The driver information center panel of my Chevrolet 2005 Malibu is not readable whenever sunlight is present. The panel is too dimly lit to be read by the driver until you shade the panel with your hand or a map and place your face directly in front of it. This cannot be done while driving. The seventeen warning messages that can be generated by the vehicle computer can only be provided to the driver by the dic panel display. Five of these warnings are critical to safety. After sundown, the vehicle sensor activates the headlights and activates a rheostat on the dash which allows the driver to set dic panel light intensity anywhere he or she wishes so readability is no longer a problem.
