2013 Chevy Malibu LS Headlight found shorted and was causing other electrical issues. I found out the 8pin plug one of its pins showing burnt and its male mate same You can see this issue is not just one owner incident and it-??s a public complaint in this public forum link [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Dashboard light don't work majority of the time is started like month ago and before that started there was something on the dash I believe is said brake/stability trak And now the battery keeps dying
Dash lights flickering in and out and I can-??t see my speed but the car still runs n has blinkers. Eventually it will flicker and go all the way black. Also the radio still worked fine n reverse camera did too it don-??t stall or anything tho I-??m just scared to drive At night cause i goes totally black
Both low beam headlights stopped working. Two days later the passenger side low beam headlight turned on again, but not the driver side. 2 months later both low beams again no longer working. I've replaced all 4 fuses (interior and exterior), headlight relay, and bulbs. None of that fixed the problem.
When driving my dash lights quit for days and then sometimes come back on. I am not aware of what speed I am going when driving. I am not able to accurately drive the speed limit that I am suppose to. I don-??t know how much gas I have or if I am about to run out of gas. If my check engine light is on or not, and can-??t see my turn signals. How can you obey the laws of driving when you can-??t tell if you are going over the speed limit or not or using your turn signal.

ALL ELECTRICAL INSIDE CAR GOES OUT OR ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. ALL DASH GAUGES, SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE, RADIO, HEAT/AC, TURN SIGNALS, ETC. CAR STILL RUNS BUT NOTHING ON INSIDE WORKS. I do not know if this control outage effects the ABS or Steering. It only last for a few seconds. It has happened several time will drive 50 to 70 MPH. I've let off the gas and try not to panic. Everything comes back on and I continue home. I'm scared to drive my car
This car and news that always sunny allah stop our vehicle batteries dead city alternating battery particles at 09:00 so generator alternatives last call it in the battery was charging 50 picked up yesterday and today the car the same thing over andstop in the middle stream stay in your dead no power at all
The console transmission gear selection indicator does not illuminate the shift position selected. I have been driving on the highway when the gear selection illumination goes off and I no longer have gear selection access nor acceleration control. I have had to dangerously roll off the highway into a safer place to attempt to restart the vehicle. After a few attempts the illumination returns and I have control again. This has happened randomly and I've tried to get help from dealership and GM but everyone that I've spoken to does not acknowledge this recall. I will attach a copy of the recall for a better understanding.
Often times as I'm driving down the road my whole dashboard will turn off and turn back on. More recently when I started my car in the morning the dash lights wouldn't turn on and all the gauges were stuck down as if the dash never turned on.
My 2013 Chevrolet Malibu headlights specifically the right passenger side light keeps going out, I've replaced the bulb, and eventually I had the wiring inside fixed because it was exposed. I bought the car certified pre-owned from the dealership and never realized until recently that the electrical wires that lead to the bulb socket were cut and then twist tied back together and wrapped in electrical tape, instead of having a complete rubber tube cover around the outside and being one continuous uncut piece the way it should be. So I had someone at a car shop try to fix it but now the light is going on and off again. I've seen many Chevrolet vehicles on the road with the right passenger side low beam headlight out while the left one continues to work fine. There are plenty of reports about this same problem by many other owners on the internet. I'm not the only one with this problem, and a costly safety hazard. A recall needs to be made.
The car was having interment electrical issues with the turn signals, and radio going off and on. Now, the radio stopped completely, and the turn signals do not function. I have a low battery after testing. Is this part of the generator module recall?? it is very unsafe for my daughter to drive, as there is nothing lit up on displays anymore.
The entire instrument panel cluster would turn on/off on it's own at random. At first the issue seemed to happen the most when the environmental temperatures were lower. The entire instrument panel has now completely stopped working. None of the gauges or lights on the instrument panel work. Due to this issue, I am unable to know my speed, fuel level, mileage, temperature, battery, etc. This creates a hazard when driving.
I drove four hours to buy this car get there its pour rain do test drive around block buy car get ready and leave and stop at gas station cause its out of gas well passenger rear tire had 5 lbs of air in it fill it up get on highway and car starts shaking like crazy and is all over the road car lot is close and so is rental place so I drive home and have texted owner to tell him to get tow truck at my house in morning to pick it up I didn't want it and he did reason im writing this is I told him how bad this car was and I looked on there site and its back up for less than I bought it for that car is way to dangerous to be on the road
As I am driving down the road, the entire dashboard goes black, then it just lights back up as if I were just starting the car...all other functions regularly while the dashboard blacks out...the radio still works. This happens sporaducally meaning there is no rhyme or reason to it..I am scared it will catch on fire.
While driving the vehicles electrical system, lights, radio dash start to intermittently go off then come back on. While this is happening the steering suddenly froze up while making a turn into oncoming traffic. This nearly caused a head on collision with oncoming cars. That same night when I pulled up in front of my house the headlights and instrument cluster kept flashing on and off.
While driving the vehicle the car powers down. The radio turns off, lights on dash goes out and power steering locks up. If driven over a speed bump or pothole all electrical componets power down. I was driving and put my signal on, the vehicle shutdown and steering wheel locked until it rebooted itsself. There is no difference on street, highway nor speed. When it looses power there is no way to alert the nearby drivers with hazard lights as everything has been shut off. On going matter, has been to dealer multiple times and different locations
I purchased a 2013 certified pre-owned Chevrolet Malibu from a Chevrolet dealership in November of 2014. I was satisfied with my purchase for a few months with no issues until I started having problems with the electrical. My first frightening experience was traveling on the interstate exiting onto a highway via a cloverleaf. While merging onto the highway, I lost all power, including power steering. Luckily no one was in the other lane, as my car veered across the line, into the other lane. The power came back on a few seconds later. I brought my car into the dealership where I purchased it, however they were unable to pinpoint the issue. They scanned the vehicles system for error codes, cleared the codes and sent me on my way. Since this initial issue, my car loses power randomly while driving, parked, using my turn signal, turning left, turning right, etc. The power steering goes out, the dashboard and vehicle display monitor go black. Some instances it will flicker, other times it will shut down completely. I have had it towed from my driveway as I have been unable to turn it on and towed from a retail parking lot. I have had the car inspected by the dealership 4 times and a separate privately owned garage twice, with no resolution. I contacted GM/Chevrolet regarding the issue and a case number was given to me. They had me bring my car to a Chevrolet dealership. After their inspection, the dealership stated it was the positive battery cable that is malfunctioning. I reached out to Chevrolet again about a resolution and they indicated the vehicle is outside of warranty so no repair support will be provided. If this issue would have been resolved within the initial inspection, the certified pre-owned status of my vehicle may have covered repairs. My concern is the larger impact of others experiencing the same issues and getting the same response by GM.
Dashboard instrument cluster flicks on & off while driving highway, side street or stationary no difference. Car acts as if it is being started over & over while driving. Check engine, stability control & other warnings flash. Bell dings over & over. Now 6 months later, instrument cluster doesn't work at all. No speed/oil/gas indicators. Dealership & mechanic shop can't find anything wrong during diagnostics. No codes.
Steering ECU, instrument cluster, and center stack all reset while driving intermittently. These incidence have occurred numberous times and GM does not know the root cause. When an event occurs the driver looses power steering for a brief period of time. This has happened while making left hand turns, on the highway, and while stopped. GM released a technical service bulletin to check ground points on the negative battery cable this does not solve the problem and this is a serious safety concern. I have released production level software for numberous tier one suppliers that have gone into a variety of ecus. To me it seems like all of the body control modules have lost power. When checking car complaints this same behavior has been stated in over 40 reports and all reports state GM was unable to determine the cause. If an investigation has not been launched into this behavior I highly recommend it before the loss of power steering kills someone.
