At about 12,000 miles the car dropped from 34 on the highway to 26 and from 24 in town to 18. The weather did get cooler, but the weather was cooler when I got the car. The dealer says it is slightly out of alignment and that is the problem but the car has been out of alignment since 6000 miles and it got great gas mileage then.
Hopefully it comes back up when it gets warm. never had a car with such a significant change in the winter.
I purchased a new 2013 Chevy Malibu rated 34 MPG highway that cost me $25,000. To date, it has never received better than 25 MPG highway. I have made multiple complaints to Chevy, had it back to the dealer 3 times, and at Chevy's recommendation, let the dealer drive it for a week. They confirmed that, indeed, the vehicle never made more than 25 MPG highway. I would NEVER have bought this vehicle knowing this is the best mileage it could offer.
Chevy recently called to let me know that they believed the vehicle was operating in normal parameters and would take no further action. I will NEVER buy a General Motors vehicle again and will tell the world what crappy service this company has provided me after 20 yrs of dedicated loyalty. I am extremely unsatisfied and disappointed in this company's response to my valid complaint. I am not surprised that this company is currently under investigation by Congress. Tell the world!
