I found that my rear defroster wasn't working, and frankly, I wasn't going to fix it, or worry about it, until I Googled and found that it should be checked out, as it could cause a fire in your car! So, I took it to a repair shop and they found that the fuse box in the trunk was melted!! (How would I have known unless I was looking for this?!) So, they obtained a rear defroster bypass kit, and had to remove and replace the rear fuse block (in the trunk) and install a rear defrost bypass kit.
The parts were $412.68 and the labor was $422.96. (Shop supplies were $29.96, environmental was $29.02, and sales tax was $33.31, for a total of $927.93) I got it fixed because of the fire hazard.
This is the first Chevy I have ever owned, and I am not impressed, so far. I recently had a radio replaced because the input jack for my phone was loose, and the radio stations would change if you hit a bump in the road. It was a $500 fix! I probably won't ever buy a Chevy again.. but wanted to share the rear defroster problem, in the event it happens to someone else, and they didn't want to fix it.
