Steel wheel cracked in weld resulting in slow air leak and low tire. This has happened twice on two of my wheels on this car which has never been abused or wrecked. This problem should be covered by Chevrolet since is happening to many Malibu owners. I have never seen this happen on any other cars, Rim leaking air. Is a safety hazard and needs to be taking care at no cost. Recall, Recall, Recall. This is happening so often to owners that it is difficult to find used wheels.
rim "manufacture defect"/ crack in crease(s) of rim. I guess the dealership that I am dealing with must think because I am a woman I am incompetent. Well they are wrong!! I am neither incompetent or going to take NO for an answer. I spent an additional $1800 on an extended warranty that will NOT cover the cracked "manufactured, defected in 3 different places along the creases of my rims". Hummm.. That that should tell you something. It doesn't strike me as surprising, that I am NOT the only person dealing with this issue or had this problem. Especially since I have had 2 experts with tires and rims look into this issue for me. that is why I am here!!! I have even went as far as escalating this issue to GM who has advised that they have been in contact with the Service Manager at the Chevy House and was advised to offer me the option to pay $200.00 (the price for the rim and the sensor/tire indicator) and they will cover the rest. I'm like, the rest of what?? THE LABOR!! Personally, this is a hazard and I do not think anyone should be held liable for a defect that is out of their control. Oh!! I was also informed by a GM specialist (message recorded) that the rim was a manufactured ware, and due to the amount of miles on my car (55,000) they will only consider replacing the rim if the mileage was 20,000. (Mind you, that is less than the factory warranty (30,000). And you must be kidding me!!! The tires out last the rims!! And they are made of rubber!!! (smh) Besides, at 20k your car would only be 1yr old if not 1yr 1/2..Sounds to me like GM has a Big problem on their hands. Not only that, but that says a lot about their product.. At this time I am still negotiating with the dealership and with GM. Not only do I not want to agree to pay for the rim at this time, but I do NOT want to be like my other 2010 Chevy Malibu owners who had found themselves in the same boat AFTER getting one rim fixed.. This is not my first car. And I have NEVER had an issue like this. Believe me. I am appalled at this situation, and would like to know how many of us are out there that is having the same issue..
