First repair, airbag service required. The dealership claimed it was a loose wire. 2nd repair, ESC maintenance required, traction service required, engine power reduced, vehicle will not leave neutral. If gas is applied vehicle jumps and shakes. 3rd is same as 2nd and 4th visit is same as previous except when I received ownership of the vehicle it could not make it out of the parking lot. After mentioning the lemon law the dealership is now trying to blame this technically 5th visit on an ignition coil even though ESC maintenance message was displayed with traction control, engine pwr reduced, the vehocle was still shakig, and now the check engine light is on when it wasn't before.
I bought my Malibu new in 2010, shortly atter the service ESC and traction lighrts kept comming on, I took to shop but thsy acted like I was nuts, later I got a recall and took to shop, said was fixed bu two days later same situtation, this has been an ongoing issue for 5 years mot only those but seatbelt come on and service airbags comes on constantly, I wrote to Chevy and all they did was sene me back to Chevy where they charged me and guess what, the problem is occuring, I emailed Chevy again months ago and have still no reply.
The contact owned a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 60 mph, the power steering seized and the vehicle crashed into a jersey barrier. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The air bags did not deploy and there were no injuries. A police report was filed. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14E044000 (steering). Since we bought the car on more than one ocassion the sunroof has leaked, the air bag light comes on when you move the passenger seat, and the third brake light in the window does not work.
2010 Chevy Malibu LT2..apx 76,000 miles..**side air bag problems** I was pulling out of a parking lot going about maybe 10 mph and all of a sudden I hear a big like "gunshot" sound it was smokey and like a powder residue in the car causing me to cough a little and it felt as I got in a accident or hit something. My side airbag deployed for no reason there is no damage to my driver side or anything.. I am traumatized and just have minor injuries such as back pain, for a minute my head was spinning and I had a headache..I was just so confused as to what had just happened. It happened so quick thank god I wasn't going fast because it could have been a lot worse. To make even matters worse my 5 year old son was in back glad he was safe. GM really need to look into this major safety issue and address it correctly. Now I'm out of a car basically until I hear back from them.
While driving home from work on October 2016 3 random lights on my dashboard appeared(engine light, service airbag light, ESC). They stayed on for about 2 hours then disappeared for the rest of the day. The following day, all three lights appeared and did not leave for 3 days, then disappeared. Then they reappeared for 2 days, then disappeared. The day after they disappeared, all lights appeared but the engine light. Now I only have ESC and service airbag which comes on and off.

Service air bag info comes on. Never know when. May be connected to seat movement. Passenger seat, I think. Has did this occasionally fo 2 years. Always went off before. Now staying on. Recall on air bag service connecter in 2011 completed. Seems to have come on also while braking hard.

Vehicle air bag light turns on and stays on intermediately. Movement of the passenger seat either by shaking or sliding will turn on/off the air bag light. Symptom reoccurs every weekly/biweekly over the past year. This appears to be a known problem by GM for the 2010 Malibu and is most likely related to air bag connector under the seat.
The airbag sensor goes off due to heat rising. Especially in the summer when car temperature rises. This past summer I've had the sensor go off more than 3 times a month due to the excessive heat, I'm currently unsure if it'll even deploy correctly if I'm in an accident.I usually have to remove the airbag and then check for any damage to it and then re-insert it. Airbag is still the original part, never been deployed before. I know a lot of other owners have had the same issue and have posted on chevymalibuforum.com.
1) GM is covering up a defect in rims ( not completely welded, I have the rim as evidence) 2) currently my service ESC, traction, air bag lights are all on ( so is my air bag gonna explode" is my car not stable enough to be driven") 3) 2011 I paid to have my car fixed because the brake lights stayed on. ( maybe had 3000 miles) 4) my brake lights currently stay on.( aprox 70,000 miles) 5) I have contacted GM several times, have not spoke to anyone. 6) when the car behind me can not tell if I am stopping because my lights stay on and I am killed along with the person behind me... maybe someone will listen.

Air bag warning light illuminates when pressing hard on brake pad and when making turns. Warning light in dash stays on the warning light may go off briefly when driving and it is required to brake hard, but illuminates again when brake is pressed. Sometimes, it comes on during normal driving without braking. Sometimes it comes on when the car is driven over a bump in the road. This malfunction makes it impossible to determine if air bags are actually engaged and will operate during a crash. The problem only increased after body control module (BCM) recall was fixed on the vehicle. It occurs every 1-2 days since the BCM was repaired. Local Chevrolet dealer has not been able to identify a problem and has not been willing to contact GM for information. Extremely concerned for passenger safety.

The contact had to apply force to the steering wheel in order to turn the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the power steering and the air bag needed to be replaced. After receiving our 2010 Chevrolet Malibu back from the Chevrolet dealership after them having it for 3 months to correct recall 13036 the "service air bag" message comes on and off several times a week. It wasn't doing this until recall 13036 was done and the car delivered back to us. I visited my local Chevrolet dealership and they stated there is no recall about this.Chevrolet has stated there is no known issues with air bag or sensor problems with my model. Shortly after getting the recall repair for the ABS lighting issue in late August the "service airbag" light came on when I hit the brakes hard. After a while it went off and stayed off until a few days later when a back seat passenger closed the rear passenger door hard. It still to this day continues to go on & off, sometimes when I hit a bump, or when I 1st start the car. I called the dealer and was told our car was not under recall for the recent airbag issue and that for them to investigate the issue would require the diagnostic machine. And.. since the warranty on the airbag was only 3yrs/36,000 miles the charge to me would be 1hrs time about $125. I find this completely unacceptable and will also be filing a complaint with GM.
