I purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu in July of 2013. It only had 21,000 miles with one previous owner. In December of 2015 I began to experience problems with the car loosing power as I was driving. The car would sometimes cut off but would start right back up and resume normal functionality. I had the car looked at by my mechanic and he could not find any problems.In May of 2016 the car cut off while I was on the interstate. I had it towed to my local dealership and had a diagnostic performed. The finding was "internal engine failure". The dealership said that the timing chain broke and that my engine was blown. I was given a verbal quote of 6,000 to repair the car. The car is less than 1 yr outside of it's powertrain warranty. I contacted GM directly and they gave me the run around with the dealership. The dealership now says that the engine may not be damaged. It has been over 1 month and no one can give me a straight answer about what the problem is with my car. This is my second Chevrolet that I've owned that has had major malfunctions that made the vehicle inoperable well before its time in a span of 15 years. GM customer service is unacceptable. This will be my last Chevrolet purchase.
