- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a short, sharp rattle noise from the front of the engine at start up. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0011 P0014 P0016 or P0017. Technician will need to inspect the engine belt. If the vehicle is equipped with a hydraulic power steering, technician will need to verify the power steering pulley outer edge is aligned flush with shaft and repair as needed. If pulley alignment is correct or vehicle does not have hydraulic steering, replace the engine belt. If the noise is still present and it is coming from the cam actuators they will need to be replaced.
