I was on the highway going to pass a truck and the dash displayed a warning "engine shutting down" and the car just shut down, the truck passed me on the slow lane as i attempted to coast the car off the road on the highway in the middle of winter (weather was -30deg c). Car was dead for 30 minutes, started up after I froze my butt and drove it to the nearest garage.
They had no clue what the issue was. Chevrolet advised the mechanic to clean the air intake. I had it done and it never reoccured but lost confidence in the vehicle.
Well, I bought this car brand new 2008 my husband has an older Malibu & it has over 20000 mi on it so I bought one thinking it will last me a good 10 yrs. Well I'm never buying an American car again. I almost own the car I've been paying $500.00 a mo for 6 yrs, come to find out I will soon have ANOTHER CAR PAYMENT!!! NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I'M TRYING TO BUY A HOUSE NEXT AND NOW IT LOOKS LIKE I NEED ANOTHER CAR. THE ENGINE I'M GETTING ONLY HAS 6 MO WARRANTY. AND SPEAKING OF WARRANTY I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE 5 YRS OR 100,000 MI & WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO CHEVY THEY SAID IT'S FOR 4 YRS THIS IS BULLSHIT!!! I HAVE TO INVESTIGATE THAT TOO.
