Service airbag light comes on prematurely do not know if bags will deploy without an accident. I am not familiar with airbag system so I don't know what recourse I should take. 2006 Chevy Malibu.
Driving 30 mph down a country road. Drove over black ice started to fishtail. Lost control of the vehicle going into three 360's. in the fourth 360 I hit a tree head on causing total damage to the front of the car. Slid along a barbedwire fence for the back end to hit the tree again and wrapping the car around the tree. The tree then fell on top of the car.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 25-30 mph on normal road conditions, the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure occurred intermittently and without warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 06V417000 (air bags;frontal), although the failures were identical. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 40,300. Updated 2/23/09 updated 02/25/09.
