2006 Malibu LT- While driving, the idiot lights flash on, speedo and heat zero out, 5 plus seconds later, all blinks out and back to normal. Had 3 recalls fixed, tranny cable, power steering, dammit, and the one where the brake lights wouldn't work. The last recall was done about a month ago, they put some kind of foam buffer on a wiring cluster to keep it from rubbing and shorting out, also cleaned and greased the connectors for the BCM.
A new thing happened this a.m. My wife started the car with the remote (just like every other day) goes out to go to work, here the trunk decides to open itself! Then the security idiot light comes on, also shows up on the DIC. I had her close the trunk, and we opened all four doors, closed them, and the "lock" went away. What next, ya turn on the wipers and the tires go flat?
Stopped at the Chev dealership with the car, told them the problem, was told more or less to piss off. At the same time, showed the service manager that the paint is falling off, not chipped with rocks, actually falling off. No help there either. Had a friend scan the car, came up with signal interruption between the DIC and the instrument cluster. He also said that the ignition, dammit, could be bad. Not the key switch, the thing it plugs into. Any thoughts?
