I purchases this car used on Christmas Eve to replace my 95 Saturn SL1 that went out. Upon inspecting under the seat the weld across the right hand side of the seat where the frame of motor is is broken right before where it bolts to the frame. Seat still moves back and forth but feels like I'm tilled at an angle and hurts my back when I drive it.
Just bought this car at a big car dealership. Three weeks later, the driver side started to lean to the right. When you attempt to shake it with just one hand it moves. Upon closer look, found out the front metal tube holding the seat to the frame broke off. It separated at the weld point. Closer look revealed a pathetic welding job was done. It seems like it's an unfinished job. It's more like a spot weld. As a welder myself, I will NEVER approve a half bake job. Come on Chevy, do you have any QA or QC checking the quality of your products? Pathetic job done. But most of all dangerous as the seat belt is part of the system. It's supposed to hold you safe, but with such a poor weld, death can occur! I'm mad!!!!
I have taken my car to a dealership to have them look at my driver seat and they are telling me that it will cost over $900 to get it fixed. After doing some research on my problem, I have noticed that there are a lot of people with the same problem. How come there isn't a recall on this issue? Why should it be up to us to pay for this expense when clearly it is the manufacturer's problem!!! Anyone know how to fix this problem or is there someone we can go to with this issue?
I have received 3 recalls on my vehicle and frankly I think this car is poorly made! It no longer makes me feel safe.
This is actually the second time this same driver's seat has broken. First time was Nov 2010 and I had the dealer to weld it back together. It broken again in a different place.in Feb 2012. Estimated cost to replace the whole seat is $850 (the only solution) as quoted by an independent repair shop. Looking for a cheaper used seat in good repair.
I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED IT THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WAS GOING TO COST A MINT TO FIX IT.
