Dangerous on highways when cruise control all of a sudden quits working for no outwardly reason.

All happened after warranty was out of course & couldn't afford to have fixed. Control worked when taken to a shop where it was purchased of course & they just tore up the felt cover in the trunk checking that at the time too (which of course didn't work).
