Has issues that are recalled on other 2000 Malibu's. blinkers stopped working on & off one day. Then stopped totally next day, changed fuse nothing helped. Doesn't even show on instrument panel. Car refuses to start at times, takes any where from 3-5 tries to start. Also had recall done on ignition, didn't help, I replaced whole ignition switch after the dealer 'fixed' it. Battery kepted on draining before that.

Chevy issued a recall (14350) which states they will repair my ignition keys. They also have a recall for other Chevy vehicles that not only repair the keys, but replace the ignition switch and key cylinder. My cylinder and switch are damaged, so far I have gone through an alternator and battery trying to isolate th problem which shows on the scanner as being the cylinder and the switch. Chevy will not replace these items, even tho they are caused by the unintended motion issue.

I bough the 2000 Chevy Malibu used in August 2014 since then I have been seeing the same thing I had happening with the 2003 Saturn vue I bought in 2012 pre owned, the key in the ignition comes out and does not turn off the car. The key comes out while the switch and car is still running the key also does not turn over as it sticks inside of the ignition switch and I have a hard time getting car started also. This is very dangerous and needs to be repaired I already had the Saturn vue repaired since it was recalled this car needs to be repaired as well. Please issue a national recall on the 2000 Chevy Malibu cars to get fixed asap. I would like to get the car fixed asap this is not safe and also it is getting harder to turn the car on and the key is falling out a times also while the car is being driven since the switch is sticking. I would like to add that when I had two previous Saturn's a turquoise coupe and SL2, it happened twice and this is the first time I accidentally took another persons car in the parking lot of a movie theater since the keys to the Saturn's open the doors of cars like the same car I realized it was not my car and immediate took it back and got mine thank god the movie was still going or I could have been accused of stealing the car this is another manufacture defect and dangerous to people should they ever figure out that the keys all work on the same make and models. I also locked my keys in my car and asked on man to open my door with his key I was food shopping at the time he had the same Saturn coupe as my turquoise Saturn and it worked he stood there in disbelief I told him I knew this since it happened once in a movie theater parking lot. This needs to be dealt with asap I wrote in once and never heard back about it.

I was traveling to brighton, co from ft. Morgan, co to seller my 2000 Chevy Malibu. Our intended purpose was to take the funds from the sell and pick up 1996 Chevy S10. Prior to this trip my car had difficulties starting but never failed to start after several attempts. The car engine stalled coming off of the off ramp at around 30 mph. When the car stalled I had to manually steer the vehicle to get it to the shoulder of the road (I just had carpool tunnel surgery and it was painful to do so). After about 2 minutes I attempted to restart the car and it restarted after about the forth attempt at turning the key on waiting 30 seconds for the fuel pump and then turning the key over the rest of the way. After about 2 city blocks the car stalled again going around 20 mph. This time it took much longer before the car would start again. About 25 minutes, we let the engine cool and again it took several attempts to turn the motor over but it final did start. It traveled about a mile and stalled again going about 5 mph. This time we let the car sit for an hour and re attempted to start it. It went another mile and stalled again. We contacted a mechanic who suggested it may be the fuel regulator or the fuel pump. We have replaced the regulator and that did not work we have tested the fuel pump and it is working fine. I have read several documents involving this issue and I am still no closer to figuring out what the problem is. I only know I am not the only one having this issue. This car also has a faulty check engine light and does not appear to be over heating when it stalls. The theft light comes on intermittently but I have check the VIN on my car with Chevy and there is no recall for my car. Why is this happening at 115K. This could be very dangerous and I have half a mind to call a news station. I'm sure Chevy would love the new advertising. Please fix.

Passlock anti theft device (or system) in 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. Passive anti theft comes on and refuses to let the automobile start if there is even a hiccup in the starting process the car will not start unless left in acc for 10 minutes. This has proven to be a dangerous situation. I received a call that my daughter was in an accident and I was needed. Went to start my vehicle, there was a hiccup in the process and my automobile refused to start for 10 minutes. In an emergent situation with absolutely no control over your vehicle is a very dangerous situation. Luckily in this case the 10 minutes did not make a difference in the outcome, however in an emergency 10 minutes could prove to be life threatening. I repeat - to not have control over one's own vehicle is not acceptable at the least and extremely dangerous in an emergency. GM wants $500 to replace the necessary module - which will fail again. $500 to regain control over my own vehicle is not acceptable. GM should be required to place a switch within reasonable access so the owner of the vehicle can determine whether or not this dangerous equipment can be enabled. Again - this situation is not acceptable and GM should be held accountable.

I bought my car on 7/21/01, it has been in for repairs 10/3/01, 7/12/02,12/11/02, 6/23/03 and 6/24/03. The problem is electrical and the engine as well. Chevrolet has run diagnostics many times but is not able to fix the problem for good. Everytime I take my car in, I am told it's now something different that has broken. My car will break down and sometimes if I allow it to sit for 10 - 20 minutes it will start right back up. For as many times as my car has been repaired, it has broken down at least three times before I take it in. My dispute with Chevy is my car is a lemon. They cannot determine what is wrong with it because diagnostics is unable to duplicate the problem. Chevy informed me that does not mean there isn't a problem it just means the computer cannot detect it. I have filed with the BBB auto line but because my car has more than 24,000 miles they say I am out of luck. Chevy is unwilling to do anything about the problems I am having with my car. My dispute is should a car break down at least 5-10 times a year?

I purchased my vehicle at major automotive group and since I have purchased my car I have had many problems with it. When I went back to the dealership and asked to exchange the car for another one, I was informed that I could not until my title was received. I have had the vehicle since July 5, 2003 and still have not received a title as of yet. I have been back and forth for many repairs and still have not seen any difference. The car still remains the same and I only have one more month left of my warranty. I really feel as though they are waiting for the warranty to be up so that some action could be done.

This complaint stems from the time I have had this car. A popping noise that comes from the rear of the vehicle from either both the trunk area and or suspension, a hollow sound not very loud though. It happens on uneven surfaces at very low speeds. I brought the car to the dealer four times and sometimes the sound or sounds are noticed but nothing is done, except for lubrication. Sometimes it is hard to duplicate and at other times it can. Also it never happens at highway speeds. Only slow speeds and on right or left turns. I hope that the engineers can discover it. The car is a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. VIN [xxx]. the car is still under warranty. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
