The fuel pump contains 2 filters, one clogs regularly, which causes you to stall constantly. I stalled twice in below zero weather on the side of a country road. I literally had to shake the car by the gas tank to get it to start again. I'm going on my second time of needing to replace the fuel pump. This along with a multitude of other problems,ie. breaks, ABS breaks, gaskets, heating/cooling system, and starter would keep me from ever purchasing another Chevy.

i had fuel pump go out also and had replaced still runs good so far. all i want to say is for those who experience this problem in isolated area and it may not work on every Malibu but if u will get under car and give the gas tank a few hard raps it may start, mine did and it saved me from walking a few miles.

driving back from dallas last summer took me 12 hours on what should have been a 4 hour trip. it kept stalling out. i took it to an expensive repair shop that kept it a week ran all kinds of diagnostics on it and could find nothing wrong. then in january it died out again. they ran more diagnostics on it kept it for a week then finally when they were driving it it died out on them, and they declared it was the fuel pump, the fuel tank and the fuel line, all together with the diagnostics etc it cost me about $1500.

Not long after having the short block replaced on my car this piece of crap starts messing up again! Life should not revolve around a lemon car!! This was 2 years ago after the long and short block had been replaced! My vehicle decided it wanted to turn itself off, after a few minutes it would start again. My fuel pump had apparently decided to go out making my car not drivable until it was repaired once again! One last entry, it's the latest issue with this piece of junk I'm somehow still paying on.
