The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. When the turn signals were activated, the contact would hear a sound and the signals would stop working. The vehicle was driven to a local repair shop approximately two weeks later and the mechanic stated that the signals were working properly and no failure could be found. Immediately after leaving the repair shop, the turn signals failed to work again. She returned the vehicle to the repair shop and was informed that the vehicle had a defective switch, which was related to NHTSA campaign id number 03V327000 (exterior lighting:hazard flashing warning lights:switch). The dealer and manufacturer stated that her vehicle was not included in the recall. The current and failure mileages were unavailable. Updated 10/16/08 the ABS light had illuminated. A new left front hub assembly was installed. Updated 10/21/08.
Whenever the brakes are applied the front end of the vehicle would shimmy. Would let brakes go when vehicle started to shimmy. This occurred at various speeds. It was an intermittent problem. Had taken vehicle to dealership, and had the rotors turned and brakes replaced. The rotors would be turned every 6,000 to 10,000 miles. The problem had not been resolved.
2000 Chevrolet Malibu: Turn signals stop without warning. Air condition stops and starts on its on. Brakes squeal. Engine surges. Uses oi, L but no leak. Uses alot of coolant no leak found by me. Ignition switch locks and wont let go sometimes.
The back brakes locked up at 55 mph, which made me lose control and slam into a tree pretty hard. The road condition was paved and dry. Legal proceedings will occur if Chevrolet doesn't resolve this matter!

Vehicle has had numerous problems with defective rotors. At 3000 miles rotors warped and needed to be serviced. Rotors have been serviced or replaced 5 times since vehicle purchase. Problem was occurring every 3000-6000 miles.. also, has had two accidents.
This will be the 4th time to take vehicle in for turn signal problems. I have to use my hazards to get my turn signal to work. Now neither one of them work. The first time I took it in they told me there was no way my hazards would make my turn signal work. This car is a piece of expensive junk. Not to mention the brakes have been replaced also.
Dealer has replaced some parts, paid some labor, and blamed owner or/and normal wear for some defects. Vehicle has been in and out of garage numerous times since purchase. All scheduled maintenance has been performed at dealership.no safety defect listed.
I have had my Chevrolet Malibu for 2 1/2 years and have had to have my brakes fixed 3 times. The ABS brakes also went out on the driver's side. I have complained several times to the dealer, who stated that Malibu just have those kinds of brakes. I have also complained to GM who also stated there was not a problem with their brake system. I strongly disagree, I don't believe I should be paying $500 for new rotors and pads and 600 for a new bearing and ABS brake at 50,000.
The brakes don't stop properly. The brakes have been changed 3 times. The rotors have been turned once and changed once. The blinkers don't work 95% of the time and the emergency flashers never work properly. The ac settings change on their own as you are driving the car. This causes the compressor to turn on and off, eventually causing premature compressor failure. The vehicle has died 4 times as we were driving down the road, once almost getting us killed as we were turning in front of a truck. Also, the brakes have almost caused us to be in a wreck. We have almost been rear ended because of the turn signal failure. The manufacturer and the dealership has had many times to fix this vehicle with no success. To this point, we have not been involved in a motor vehicle accident. However, is it going to take me or my family being killed to get something done with this vehicle?
Something wrong with the brakes. Dealer can not duplicate. When you go to slow down thw brake pedal will sink and vibrate and give you a grinding noise for just a second. Only happens right after start up. Does not happen on a regular basis.
