While applying brakes at highway speed of 70-75 mph it pedal pulsates. Also, steering wheel and vehicle vibrate. Vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on five occasions, and problem still occurring.
Front discs turned twice, replaced once, due to pulsing during braking, need service again. Repairs recurr every 10K miles. Fixed twice under warranty, once at owner's expense.
3 times to dealer for trunk leaks, paint repair on new car. Brakes are pulsating again after second rotor set replacement. Chevy had best get going with a fix or its going to lose many customers for life. The brake problem seems endemic to Malibu owners! blower motor replaced, door handles leak cold air, rattles and squeaks like you wouldn't believe. I've never had a worse new car purchase than this piece of crap. Chevy has really screwed us on this one!
The brakes continue to warp on our Malibu, causing excessive vibration when braking at high speed. Twice we have had to take it to have the front brakes adjusted while under warranty, and once again the brakes will need to be kept from warping. Seems to me the brakes are defective to begin with. My mechanic (broadwater automotive, glen burnie, 410-760-2626) contacted a GM parts source who said the fix would be a $500 job. Might a recall not be in order here? three times in 42K miles is a bit much.
Ongoing problem with faulty brake rotors; on five occasions rotors have been turned or replaced. Also, caliper guide pins were replaced. Dealer notified, and problem is still unresolved.
The vehicle starts to pulsate when applying the brakes had problem fixed by dealer in the states now it has happened again at 28K miles. Why is this happening" and why is there not a recall on this problem"
I have had nothing but problems with my car. At 3,000 miles I had to have the engine replaced. The front headlight, control panel for the windows, the phone jack, the brakes reserviced because they wouldn't replace them at 14,000, then again at 28,000 the brakes are acting up again. Please help thank you patricia robinson.
The day after buying this car, I reported to the dealorship that the brakes were squealing and rubbing. The pads were making noise whenever I come to a stop. I was told it was because metallic brakes wear out very fast. Rotors and pads seem to be warped. This noise cannot be normal. What can be done. The dealorship seems to feel that this is normal. They make noise and squeal all the time.
When driving and applying brakes vehicle started to shake and make a squeaking noise. It started to pulsate when driver applied brakes. Driver stated that she would be driving the speed of 320- to 25 mph.
Single mom of two, I am paying for a car that is supposed to be dependable and safe. I do not want to be a statistic because of someone who wants to save a buck! I chose the Malibu for the safety rating and was beside myself when I was told of the reoccurring, not repairable rotor problem. Then also after 36,000 miles I will get to pay for all rotor repairs since it will no longer be covered under the mf warranty. I used to have great respect for Chevy. I realize how very unimportant I and my children are to them now. I can not afford to repurchase a new car and I pray that this problem will be resolved soon.
Vehicle has had 4 sets of brakes & rotors, front control arms, rear suspension bar, paint flaked off front of car, front elec. Seat control, oil pan leak,
Whenever stopping vehicle, can feel the brake pedal pulsating. Needed to push harder on pedal to get vehicle to stop. The ABS light would flash on/off. Took vehicle to dealer & mechanic changed the brake pads. The rotors were rotated at least twice & then scrapped.
Defective / faulty brake system: Dealer has replaced four sets of brake pads;.turned three rotors, and replaced one rotor. Also, and sanded & deglazed rear brakes. Can NHTSA do something about this condition.
