Noticed condensation on the inside of my front and rear windshields. Began checking for possible heater core leak but found no issue. Carpet in the cabin seemed dry. I checked the trunk cargo area and found the liner to be damp. Looked in the spare tire well and found 2.5 inches of water.
After researching this issue, I found that the problem has existed since 2014 in the Impala and the fix is to replace both taillight gaskets. I would have though that after the 1st 2 years of issues with these gaskets, GM would have stepped up their game and upgraded to a better quality gasket. I'm just glad I found the water before it had the chance to completely ruin the interior carpet / upholstery.
