Service side detection system. While driving this message comes on and when the car is stopped as well. [xxx] diagnosed the problem side object detection modules cost $841.21 plus tax. I contacted [xxx] from GM at [xxx]. I was told their is nothing GM could do as my car is at 11900 miles. This is a safety issue. This will cause car to possibly catch on fire, not to start and several other issues if not repaired. The blind spot detection system has been an issue in several 2014 Chevrolet Impala. I can't use the vehicle fearful of me and my children may be in danger. I've had 3 or more conversations with GM representative [xxx] but no help. The safety issues with the defective parts used during manufacturing is unacceptable as this is not a wear and tear item. My name is [xxx] my original case #[xxx] was filed with GM.this is a safety and should be considered as a recall. GM only offers repair if your vehicle is 80000 miles or less which is unfair to the owners of the vehicle who have experienced this problem. My number is [xxx] if there are any further questions that need answering. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I bought the car March 1st 2017 with 89346 miles. Everything was going great, no problems, and I love it.I received a special coverage letter in may of 2019 that informed me of a potential side blind zone alert problem preventing it from working properly and to bring it in only if it met the special circumstances that came with it including being within 6 years of original service or 80,000 miles. At the time, there was no sign of problems, so I just set the notice aside and did what the the notice told me, until February 2020. It was wet outside one day and I noticed that the passenger side blind zone alert located on the mirror always stayed on, even though the car was off. It always stays on and I was concerned about it so I started doing research and learned it is a very common expensive problem and many people are upset this is happening to them, including me.I took it to the dealership for my appointment, under the impression that it was covered, only to get there and tell me that it has expired and that it would be $90 to diagnose the obvious issue. I think that Chevrolet needs to extend the special program or do something to help customers that purchased the car after the expiration date, especially customers like me that purchased the car after the 80,000 miles.. this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. I love the car but this light constantly being on is a nuisance and should not be happening on a newer car, and it is also a safety concern.
Around 100,000 miles (about 5 years old) I started receiving a side detection system warning and ignored it for a couple of months because I didn't feel like I was dependent on the blind spot warnings. One morning I started my vehicle and I got an error message for about every sensor on the car. The car started it but the engine was running rough. Luckily, I was able to make it to a mechanic. They found out that the electrical system was shorting out due to the bad side detection system sensor. I had to pay almost $750 to replace the bad sensor. The worst part is now about 18,000 miles later, I'm getting the same side detection system error. It must be a serious design flaw if the replacement part is lasting less than 20,000 miles and less than year. Now, I have to balance wasting another $750 versus my electrical system shorting out due to the failing sensor - hopefully, this shorting out doesn't occur during heavy traffic and cause an issue. A few simple internet searches shows that many car owners are having this issue, I can't believe the government doesn't force Chevy to issue a recall.
My car has been stalling on occasional incidents for the past 3 years, I have brought it up to my Chevrolet dealer and they say nothing is wrong, but on Friday January 17, 2020 I was driving down the fwy at 65 miles an hour and my cars speed gauge dropped to 1 and my speed began to decrease, I had to act quickly, as I was on the fast lane, I stepped harder on the gas and after like 5 sec. My speed and gauge began to increase. I also had an incident with my car on Feb. 21, 2020 as I going to park at my college, I began to turn left and my cars engine completely turned off, my car lights and radio were on the battery voltage was at 14.9, but my car no longer wanted to start. I tried numerous times to turn it on after the 8th time I gave up because I got the smell of gas, my car had 3/4 of gas so I new that was not the issue. I had to call triple a to get my car towed and I was I formed that my car turned on with no issue when they delivered it home. This past few weeks my car has been stalling but not to that degree, I will be taking it back to my dealer to see if the can find anything, but I'm very worried with these issues.

When driving and while applying the breaks the breaks lock up and become hard there is also a air noise coming from breaks almost causing a collision on several occasions. When taking to the mechanic shop he stated it was a common problem and have has to work on the Chevy Malibu I feel there is a defect with the Chevy breaking system. Also the blinker automatically turns on this has been happening since I purchased the car.
Driving on the highway and dash notification popped up that I needed to service my power steering, service my stabiltrac, service ABS. I lost power (electric) steering and barely able to exit and park safely. I'm a small woman with not much strength and I could hardly turn my wheel with every bit of muscle. This is not safe! I could've been seriously injured or died along with other drivers/vehicles! this needs to be a complete recall!!!!
The vehicle had water damage from 'clogged sunroof drains', which cause water to run all down the side and back panels causing an extensive amount of damage from one horrible design flaw. Some of the things effected was electrical company's such as electronic parking break was engaged and would not release cause the vehicle not to move! next was corrosion on several other inside wires having to do with steering and possibly air bags, but who knows if they will be effective until there is an accident and it's too late to find out if they are dmamged. Other safety features such as side detection was corroded so it too malfunctioned. There was a lot of other electrical things damaged but the car is in the shop and I don't know what else could be a huge safe concern. There is now so much mold which is dangerous to be breathing in if not totally replaced. There is an extensive amount of water in the spare tire wheel well that is causing rust and the inability to use this safety feature if needed! this became a horrible safety concern for myself and whomever my be traveling in my vehicle. Please do research into this because I could not believe this could happen to a car with only 70,000 miles! my car is in the shop so I cannot take any pictures of it! please help!
Side detection warning system failed and as a result while I was driving the electrical cluster and air bag system alert theft alert starting beeping flashing only half of the stuff works when it feels like it I cant drive the car air bags could deploy at anytime trunk could open doors come unlocked you cant see how fast your going so my car is parked in a garage undrivable
The blind spot detection sensor is corroding and shorting out. It is causing other systems on the car to show error messages and failures like the air bag and traction system well driving. It also keeps blowing fuses. This sensor was never properly protected from the elements. It also cost over $800 to replace one of them. I know this is the problem because I have had to replace them before and it is happening the exact same way.
While I was driving on the highway, my vehicle gave me a 'service side detection system' warning. A few more miles down the road, I smelled an electrical smell almost like something was burning. Luckily, I made it home and am taking it to the dealership tomorrow. It was very scary and I'm thankful my 1 year old son wasn't in the car with me at that time.
Oil control solenoid valve failure causing loss of power, instability at all speeds, and surging of engine. GM does not have any parts to repair this item and does not have a eta on when they will get them, there are no aftermarket options availible either due to the rate of failure. GM part# 12633613
While driving in town- side detection message appears on dash. Left side detection indicator stays on. Vehicle taken to dealership for service. Service technician informs me the detection module is corroded, likely from moisture. The statement reads two "miscellaneous body electrical- repair" recommendations totalling $1104.91. I can not afford this. I ask if we can disable or turn off the sensor and I am told no. I ask if neglecting to replace the corroded module can cause further disruptions with the vehicle, including safety systems, and I am told yes, it can. This is outrageous. The module should never be made in a way where it is susceptible to water damage, especially given its placement in the rear bumper. This is negligent design and complete disregard for safety, the user, or the product. I hope I havent left anything important out. I am trying to be factual and keep my frustration aside.
Side detection lights don't work and followed all the ideas to make them work other than replacing them.was going down the round and was going to make a turn and the lights weren't working. The next time they work, now there out completely.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 70 mph, all the instrument cluster warning indicators became inoperable and the vehicle failed to turn off. The contact had to disconnect the battery to turn off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to feldman Chevrolet of lansing (2801 E Michigan ave, lansing, mi 48912, (517) 489-4858) where it was diagnosed that the safety sensors were inoperable and there was water intrusion in the side sensor module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 130,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the air bag and service air bag warning indicators illuminated. Also, the vehicle exhibited difficulty starting and experienced electrical system failure. The contact stated that the instrumental panel darkened, the rpms provided incorrect readings, and the turn signals failed to work. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the battery and the alternator; however, the repair did not correct the failures. The contact stated that the vehicle had front vented heated seats and should be included in NHTSA campaign numbers 15V465000 (air bags). The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 103,000.
My car won't work at all half of the time. Mostly all electricity stops in the vehicle. The battery is 2 years old. Sometimes electric will work and still won't start. I have been told there's some kind of electrical problem in my car and that there is a recall on that but for whatever reason it says that it's not for my VIN number. I think my electrical has a problem it's been going on for well over a year now and I have to jump my car a lot.
When driving the warning sensor came on on saying power steering and stab track problem. I was on the highway and came inches from an accident. My steering was not normal and found it very hard to steer around car in front of me that slammed on breaks. Then I pulled over to see what was wrong and got warning that front camera wasn't working...I don't have a front camera! then when I backed out of that driveway it gave warning that my rear camera warning sensors were not working. I'm afraid to drive my car.
