fuel gauge broken

Driving on the interstate thought "huh haven't filled up in a while." Fuel gauge read 100% full. Stopped put gas in the tank it took 3/4 of a tank. Took 25 days for the check engine light to come on with an error code in the 460's that the fuel level sensor was malfunctioning. Local garage quoted 250 labor the part is 163. Chevy support line promised to try for a 'cost reduction program' I told them that such a thing used to be called 'selling a working product' since the car is four years old and has only 50k miles on it. Got a call from the Lynn Smith dealership offering to waive the 50 dollar diagnostic fee with the replacement cost still on me, which they won't quote until they have my car at the dealership. Online research has found class action lawsuits in older model vehicles for failing fuel gauges, speedometers, and engine temp basically the whole instrument cluster is known to go bad. Will pay in a few weeks for repairs didn't expect to drop 500- possibly a couple grand in repairs in the first six months since it could be multiple fixes.
