PLEASE HAVE YOUR SEATBELTS, AIRBAGS AND CONTROL ARMS INSPECTED IN 07 AND 08 CHEVY IMPALAS.

Front air bags do not deploy- seat belts do not lock in place- control arms are also liable to snap easily and has always been an issue and documented in police vehicles however no recalls issued. the control arm issue caused an accident and had been cracked just by a little hole and bump.

I had this same issue in two accidents. after the first accident I had the air bags inspected and they seemed fine and an assumption was made that the impact was not enough. sure enough they did not open when my 16 year old got into an accident a yr later. The seat belts also did not lock into place either accident resulting in whiplash 2 weeks after spinal surgery.

These items need to be thoroughly investigated in all Yrs/models since these items have not been recalled prior.

don't let the high mileage fool you. This car has been maintained as much as possible thanks to mechanic friends.

airbags and seatbelt failed in an accident

While waiting at a stop sign I was rear ended by a truck going approximately 70mph. It caused me to be sandwiched between the truck and the car in front of me. Having sever damage to the rear and major damage to the front, I figured that the airbags would have deployed, but no. I luckily was the only person in the vehicle because the rear occupants would have suffered from head trauma. I am currently suffering from head, neck, back, and a leg injury.

The car shut off like it should have, but no air bags were set off nor was On-Star notified of the accident. On-Star was actually in disbelief of the fact that I was in an accident when I notified them. Just seems a bit ridiculous that the airbags did not go off when my truck was in the backseat and my front end was also destroyed.
