I bought my 2007 Impala SS used with 63,000 miles on it. It ran perfect for a month, until one day I decided to use the A/C. I was doing about 75MPH with my 2 year old son in the car, on my way to have the windows tinted. All of a sudden the engine loses power, and I lose all power steering and brake. I managed to muscle the car to the side of the road safely. I turned the car off for about 5 minutes while I checked out the engine. I am not a mechanic, but I have been known to fix issues on my car. There was no signs or smells of anything wrong, so I fired the car up and went about my business. The very next day, the same thing happened.
I called the local chevy dealership (Jerry's Chevrolet in Leeburg, Va) to see if I could get the car checked out since it's under their B.S. 100,000 warranty. I spoke to Chris in the service department. He told me it would come out of pocket, it is not covered under their "powertrain warranty". I asked what exactly a "powertrain warranty" is, and I was told anything that had to do with the engine. So I asked if the engine has no power, that should be covered right? Chris said no not exactly. We went back and forth with it, but I still had no direct answer as to what a "powertrain warranty" is. I also called GM in Detroit, looking for answers. No luck.
Long story short it is in the shop getting checked out as I write this. I am 30 years old and have had 3 Chevys in the past 10 years. I have preferred Chevys since I have been driving cars, but after this experience I must say if this round of repairs don't fix this car, I will be done with ANYTHING that carries the GM tag!!!!
