Brought my car to Paddock Chevrolet in Buffalo NY on July 27th 2006. GM has a procedure to fix the noise. They apply thread-lock to all the components on the cradle. They say its 86% effective. Took the dealer 2 weeks to diagnose problem. Then after they did the procedure it was test driven and the noise returned within 10 miles of driving it. Finally GM caved in and approved the Dealership to replace my steering cradle. The dealer had my car for over 4 weeks. They said that this is a known problem with this cradle (same cradle that is used in old style impala's from 00-05 and they cant just replace every defective cradle and need to try this procedure first. All together a huge pain in the backside. This car has had more problems than I can count on 2 hands. On top of them having it for over a month, about 2 months later I was changing the oil and noticed excessive tire wear on 3 tires on their inner edges..... after replacing my cradle seems like they didn't deem it necessary to align my car. It took over a week after I dropped it of for them to put the 3 new tires on and align the car. If you live in buffalo dont go to Paddock Chevrolet for Service!
