CarComplaints.com Notes: Top complaints for the 2006 Chevy Impala include how the transmission slips, clunks and fails. Or how the power steering knocks and squeals. In other words, this car is a noisy bucket of eventual failure points.
The problem began with the paint chipping around the windshield. It has gotten progressively worse. The paint has peeled on the roof as well. I have seen other Chevrolet models with this same problem. So this can't be a coincidence. Has GM done anything to address this issue.
At about 45,000 miles, the Gloss finished pillars on the doors started deteriorating and chipping away. I am at 150,000 miles now and I have about half of the gloss finished left on the door pillars.

No dealer will handle this since I am the second owner. So what difference does it make how many owners? I have read internet gripes about other Impala's that were mfgd in June with paint problems. My dad and brother are GM retirees so I have bought GM products but not now after this.
I don't expect a car to be perfect. I just want it fixed when they know they had/have issues. This is why people start buying foreign cars.
The glossy black exterior trim on the pillars has started to peel and de laminate. Have heard it is a common problem for '06 and '07 Impalas. Chevy went to flat black pieces starting in the '08 model year...hmmm...wonder why?!

I want my car to be painted. I hold GM responsible and I would like the problem TAKEN CARE OF ASAP.
